Beginner routine

7-day percussion practice plan

A simple one-week routine for using the eBatucada trainer without getting overwhelmed.

One week plan

Practice one skill per day.

Keep sessions short: 10 to 20 minutes is enough when the focus is clear.

Day 1

Pulse only

Use samba or baião. Play only the low drum and count the main beat out loud.

Day 2

Subdivision

Add shaker. Keep the motion relaxed for one minute without speeding up.

Day 3

Snare texture

Add caixa or snare answer. Practice at least 10 BPM below the default tempo.

Day 4

Bell awareness

Solo agogô or bell, then add the low drum underneath it.

Day 5

Layer control

Mute and unmute instruments while the loop plays. Notice which layer makes you rush.

Day 6

Tempo ladder

Practice one rhythm at three tempos: slow, medium, and default.

Day 7

Performance run

Play along for three short rounds with rests between them. Record one round if possible.

How to know you are improving

  • You can play slower without getting lost.
  • You can mute one layer and still feel the groove.
  • You can listen to the bell without rushing the low drum.
  • You can stop, breathe, and restart cleanly.

Keep it simple

Do not chase every rhythm at once. Choose one rhythm for a week, then add a second rhythm only after the first feels comfortable.
